The politics of lead toxicology and the devastating consequences for childrenDelivered at the “Neurotoxic Metals: Lead, Mercury and Manganese—From Research to Prevention,” International Commission on Occupational Health, University of Brescia, June 11–16, 2006. Many of the internal memos and minutes of meetings were gathered from material gathered through discovery by the Law Department of the City of New York and the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office. We have served as expert witnesses on behalf of the City of New York, State of Rhode Island, the City of Milwaukee, and individual plaintiffs in suits against the lead industry. Portions of this material appears in Gerald Markowtiz and David Rosner, Deceit and Denial: The Deadly Politics of Industrial Pollution, (University of California Press/Milbank Fund, 2002).
