Abstract

The present investigation and aims to assessing the hepatoprotective activity of various extract of leave of Wrightia tinctoria against carbon tetrachloride induced toxicity in rats. The rats were treated with different prepared extract of Wrightia tinctoria like hexane extract, methanol extract and aqueous extract and the drug treatment were carried out orally for seven days and were maintained under normal diet. The rats were sacrificed under the inlence of mild ether anesthesia, biochemical study like SGOT. SGPT, ALP, bilirubin etc were carried. The present study reveals that all three extract have a hepatoprotective activity but methanolic extract showed maximum activity whereas aqueous extract showed the minimum activity.
