Abstract

Aim: In this study, rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction to what extent with protective effect of N-Acetylcysteine at renal toxic radiopaque iv contrast agent is given and protective effect of misoprostol (Prostaglandin E1 analog) at renal toxic diclofenac agent is given is scheduled. Material and methods: In this study, 22 Wistar albino female rats were randomized into 5 groups. 2 rats were spared for control group. Right ureter were sutured with 4/0 vicryl sutures. Rats were grouped into control, contrast agent, contrast agent NAC, diclofenac and diclofenac misoprostol. Radiopaque contrast agent was given iv. in 3rd day and others was given orally for 1 week. Rats were sacrified after 1 week biochemical oxidative stress markers malondialdehit, protein carbonyl groups and SH levels were studied. Result: The group with obstruction that contrast agent and NAC was given had higher rates of antioxidant SH level (p0,05). No difference was seen between diclofenac group and diclofenac and misoprostol group statistically (p>0,05). Conclusion: N-Acetylcysteine is protective against contrast agent when given before and after administration in obstructed kidneys. No protective effect was seen in misoprostol against diclofenac in obstructed kidney.
