Damaging Hair Care Techniques.

Authors

Chiang, Charles; Samrao, Aman; Mirmirani, Paradi

Abstract

Hair is an integral part of our physical appearance and caring for our hair is often a part of our daily routine. Hair care routines vary depending on age, sex, race, ethnicity, and religious practices among other factors. When these practices are excessive or inappropriate, damage can be done to the hair. By understanding the basic structure of the hair shaft, health care providers can assess whether hair care techniques have led to damage and can then counsel patients on proper treatment of hair.
