Abstract

The purpose of this research is to adapt the "Cognitive Triad Inventory for Children" to Turkish which was used to measure automatic thoughts that reflected the tendency toward making cognitive errors in children. The data were collected from 403 fifth and sixth grade students enrolled in two public schools in Çankaya-Ankara. Explanatory and Confirmatory factor analysis were used to assess the structural validity of the scale. Results indicated that the scale was composed of two factors; 'negative view of oneself, the future and the world' and 'positive view of oneself, the future and the world'. The results also showed that internal consistency findings of the total scale and its subscales estimated by Cronbach Alpha coeficient (.81) were satisfactory.
