Abstract

The composition and anti-aging activity of hexane extracts from Black-bone Silky fowl were investigated. The fatty acid composition and α-tecopherol content in hexane extracts from Black-bone silky fowl and Chongren chicken were determined by GC./MS and HPLC respectively. Three groups of the healthy old KM mice which were shaved on the back skin were smeared with glycerol ( I ), hexane extracts from Black-bone silky fowl( II )and hexane extracts from Chongren chicken ( III ) twice a day, respectively. The contents of water, hydroxyproline (Hyp) and collagen in derma were determined after 14 days. The results showed that II had higher contents of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), essential fatty acids (EFAs), arachidonic acid (AA) and α-tecopherol than those in group III. Group II increased the water, Hyp and collagen contents in derma of old KM mice compared with I (P < 0.01 ). It suggested that II has good anti-aging effects on mice skin, which may have correlation with higher contents of α-tecopherol and PUFAs.
