Title

Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) Use In Modulation of Blood Glucose Levels.

Authors

Bradley, Barry J.

Abstract

With the continued rise of diabetes and other blood glucose related disorders in America it is important to understand nutritional modalities that can be applied to help the patient with these disorders. Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA), also known as Lipoic acid, Thiotic acid or by the symbol a -lipoic acid, is a sulfur-containing fatty acid. It is found inside every cell of the body, where it helps generate the energy, at the mitochondrial level, that keeps us alive and functioning. ALA is a key part of the metabolic machinery that turns glucose (blood sugar) into energy for the body's needs.
