Abstract

Current trend in cognitive interventions is the use of comprehensive strategy that aims to improve various cognitive functions simultaneously. Cognitive training through web-based platforms is an alternative way to improve cognitive function in elderly people with cognitive impairment. Web-based platforms offer real-time training based on the principle of brain plasticity.Objective: The purpose of this article is to review web-based cognitive training platforms. Methods: Modern web-based cognitive training platforms developed especially for healthy elderly people without cognitive impairment as well as for adults with cognitive deficit are included in this review. To analyze their effectiveness, studies published in the bibliographic databases PubMed, Web of Science and Science Direct have been reviewed.Conclusion: Web-based platforms offer cognitive training for elderly people with cognitive impairments in one or many cognitive domains with an increasing level of difficultyand adapted to the specific impairments of the patients.
