Abstract

After finishing high school there is a sudden abandonment of the practice of physical activity, so the present research aims to describe the levels of motivational climate of university students in Granada and analyse their relationship with sociodemographic variables. A total of 351 students between the ages of 18 and 44 years participated, evaluated through the Motivational Climate Questionnaire (PMCQS-2) and a self-registration form that measured the sociodemographic variables. The results indicate that the students are predominantly oriented towards the task, finding a greater orientation to the ego on the part of the students of private centers. In addition, males obtain higher values in the categories of motivational climate, rivalry between group members and effort/improvement. No relationship has been found between the motivation and the place of residence. Finally, one finds that a higher academic performance is related to an orientation towards the task.
