Abstract

The article comments on the research study "A comprehensive approach to evaluating and classifying sun-protective clothing," by N.J. Downs and S.L. Harrison, published in the journal. Downs and Harrison suggest a methodology for determining the body surface area covered by clothing by arriving at a new index for rating sun-protective clothing, namely the Garment Protection Factor (GPF).
