Title
IV fluid therapy.
Abstract
Essential facts Many adult hospital inpatients need intravenous (IV) fluid therapy to prevent or correct problems with their fluid and electrolyte status, and infusion therapy is now an integral part of professional practice for nurses. Research suggests that as many as one in five patients receiving IV therapy could experience complications or die as a result of inappropriate use of fluids.
