- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examines relative efficacy of bariatric surgery and nonsurgical weight loss treatment in obesity patients. The study compared outcomes of bariatric surgery including body weight, waist circumference, and cholesterol level and diabetes remission. The study found that bariatric surgery increases weight loss, remission from diabetes and remission from the metabolic syndrome more than nonsurgical weight-loss treatments.
