- Abstract
The article discusses the Italian model of vaccination against hepatitis B. In the 70s and 80s, Italy was one of the countries with the highest prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in Europe, therefore, in 1991, program based on a two cohort’s strategy, that is, mandatory vaccination for all newborns and for all 12 year old adolescents was started and in 2003, the two cohorts of the vaccination program bonded together and all the population from zero to 24 years was immunized by vaccination.
