Abstract

Ingeniero White, in the southwest of Buenos Aires (Argentina), emerges as a railroad node in the context of the Agroexport Model. As a result of the spatio-temporal evolution, a series of constructions linked to the railway and the port are identified at the local scale. Currently, a contest of ideas is held to put in value one of the old docks in this area. In this context, the objective of the research is to analyze from a critical perspective the proposal of refunctionalization of the old lift dock in the locality, the social actors involved and the associated discourses around the (re) construction of this place as a patrimonial, tourist and recreational site. Based on a qualitative research, in the analysis of documents and interviews with key informants as part of the fieldwork, it shows the configuration of a structured discourse through citizen participation and an integral notion of the cultural heritage by the dominant agents, which is embodied in the planning instruments, but in reality fades.
