- Abstract
The article discusses the methodology used in psychiatric research which is longitudinal studies. In such study, individuals are continually measured over a period of time. This study is used in testing antidepressant medications submitted to the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration. It further describes the design of the study and the trade-offs between person-level randomization and cluster-level. General guidelines for sample sizing for multi-center randomized controlled trials (RCT) are also presented.
