- Abstract
Because Romania is on the verge of becoming an active member of the European Union, it is very important to highlight a few aspects regarding the European legislation in the field of dangerous chemicals and goods. Due to the more and more restrictive regulation regarding the production, transportation and use of dangerous chemicals, the European Union has introduced a series of regulations in order to control and reduce the risk of using these sorts of products. Starting with the year 2000, Romania has adopted the major part of these regulations and, according to OUG 200/2000, all the products that are produced, imported, used or just transiting on the Romanian territory must have a Material Safety Data Sheet. This documentation must include the information regarding the product (composition, chemical and physical properties, hazard identification, measures regarding personal and occupational exposure, spillage, toxicological and ecotoxicological information, transport) in order to ensure that, in case of necessity, the risks that may arise in case of an accident or of misuse and the first action that must be taken in these situations are known and/or the persons in charge may be contacted to resolve the problems, as soon as possible.
