Abstract

Efficiently using time and time management also holds significant importance in lessons. In this context, this study aims to determine the reflections of Turkish language teachers who are coming prepared to class on time management. This qualitative research study is designed using a phenomenological pattern. The study data were collected using a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers. All interviews conducted in the study were recorded with the participants' consent using an audio recording device and then transcribed. The data were analyzed through content analysis, and the relationships between teachers' time management and the process of preparing for the lesson were revealed. It was found that most Turkish language teachers prepare before class, mainly focusing on the material used in class. Additionally, two participants were found to prepare lesson plans. It was concluded that teachers consider potential issues that may arise during the lesson before the lesson and shape the teaching process accordingly--reviewing examples to be presented in class before the lesson was found to contribute to the effectiveness of the lesson. It was also found that there is generally not enough time to use additional material or different activities in class. In such cases, the importance of the student-level variable is emphasized. Teachers identify problems during the lesson and make efforts to compensate for them; daily and annual lesson plans are completed without problems, and factors such as student level and school conditions are effective. As a result of the study, it was determined that there is a close connection between making lesson plans and time management, and it was concluded that making lesson plans positively affects time management and increases lesson efficiency.
