- Title
Medical visas mark growth of Indian medical tourism.
- Abstract
The article offers developments related to medical tourism sector of India. Accordingly, the effort to promote its medical tourism started when the Confederation of Indian Industry produced a study on the country's medical tourism sector in partnership with McKinsey & Co.. What allegedly followed after the study is the calling of former finance minister Jaswant Singh to make the country become a global health destination, and the urge to improve airport infrastructure in lieu of the plan. Since then, the plan reportedly worked out fine considering the statistics which shows that 150, 000 medical tourists came to India in 2005 for medication. Further, it is expected that the health-care industry of the country will expand up to U.S.$69 billion.
