- Title
Pharmacotherapy for Smoking Cessation.
- Abstract
The article offers information on use of pharmacotherapy to help people quit smoking. It states that first-line agents to quit it are nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), varenicline and bupropion. It mentions that bupropion was used as anti-depressant in the U.S. and was later found to be effective in smoking cessation. It informs that NRT is the widely used medication and though labelling suggests to start it on target quit date, clinical research has focussed on its efficacy in pre-treatments.
