Abstract

Objectives] To study the anti-fatigue effect of water extract from Centella asiatica (L.) Urban on mice. [Methods] After intragastric administration of low, medium and high concentration of water extract from Centella asiatica (L.) Urban for 14 d, the rotarod time and the content of serum lactic acid in mice were determined, respectively. [Results] Compared with the control group, the rotarod time of mice in the low and medium concentration groups was significantly prolonged (P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the control group and the high concentration group; the content of serum lactic acid in the medium concentration group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.01), but there was no significant difference between low concentration group and high concentration group and the control group. [Conclusions] A certain concentration of water extract from Centella asiatica (L.) Urban had a good anti-fatigue effect.
