- Abstract
The article presents the case of a 38-year-old Hispanic female with a history of hypertension and progressive shortness of breath. It says that the patient was diagnosed with secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) with mildly dilated right ventricle (RV) and preserved RV systolic function after transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms. It mentions that she was referred to the cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) laboratory of The Methodist Hospital to undergo anatomic and hemodynamic assessment of the ASD and other associated congenital disorders. It adds that images from the anatomic assessment and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) of the chest showed the presence of an anomalous left superior pulmonary vein emptying into the left innominate vein.
