- Title
Prevalence of Antibodies against Avian Influenza A (H5N1) Virus among Cullers and Poultry Workers in Ho Chi Minh City, 2005.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study on the prevalence of antibodies against avian influenza A (H5N1) virus in poultry workers and cullers exposed to infected birds in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2004 and 2005. It mentions large scale outbreaks of H5N1 infections in poultry in the city area between 2003 and 2005, and the initiation of culling programs by the sub-department of Animal Health Ho Chi Minh City (AH) (HCMC) to contain the spread of H5N1 across poultry farms. In the study, tests were done on about 500 poultry workers and cullers exposed to infected birds for antibodies to avian influenza H5N1 by using microneutralization and hemagglutination inhibition assays.
