Abstract

The article "More Than Words: Communicating for the Quality of Care" by Elaine Hsieh recounts the author's experiences as a healthcare interpreter during a summer internship. The author reflects on challenging moments that made her question the traditional role of interpreters as passive conduits of information. These experiences led her to pursue a doctoral degree in health communication and research interpreter-mediated medical encounters from a communicative approach.
