Title

Female Mathematicians as Role Models for All Students.

Authors

Wiest, Lynda R.

Abstract

The author shares her view ideas and resources for supporting secondary teachers in the effort of making female mathematicians serve as role models for all students. She asserts that the approaches and resources will serve as a launching point for more specific, teacher selected and developed activities. She also tackles strategies for including information on female mathematicians. She notes that several good books and Web sites provide biographical information on female mathematicians. Books include the "Women in Mathematics: The Addition of Difference," by Claudia Henrion and "Women and Numbers: Lives of Women Mathematicians Plus Discovery Activities," by Teri Perl.
