Abstract
The article discusses the legal issues associated with the care and treatment of critically ill neonates. An overview of cases in Great Britain, involving parents in conflict with those of the midwife and medical team to determine whether continued treatment is in the baby's best interests, is presented. The decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the case Glass versus United Kingdom is discussed.
