- Title
STAT1-deficient mice spontaneously develop estrogen receptor a-positive luminal mammary carcinomas.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study that show that a subset of human breast cancers reveal reduced STAT1 expression and that mice lacking STAT1 develop estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR). STAT1 is a transcription factor that plays an important role in interferon (IFN) signaling. It adopted various methods including histological examination and gene targeted mice. It found that STAT1 expression is reduced in the neoplastic cells of a subset of human patients with estrogen receptor.
