Genotypic and functional properties of early infant HIV-1 envelopes.
- Abstract
The article informs on a research that examines the properties of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) variants that are transmitted from mother to infant during pregnancy. It is mentioned that 162 full-length envelope (env) clones were developed and using genotypic and phylogenetic analyses, 35 clones were shortlisted. The research examines the sensitivity of infant and maternal env variants towards drug Maraviroc and suggets methods to prevent the transmission of HIV-1 from mother to child.
