The article cites a research study that determines radiation exposure and psychological distress among rescue workers following the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. The disaster caused severe damage along Japan's northeastern coastline and to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The study examined 424 of 1816 disaster medical assistance team workers deployed to the disaster area one month after the event.
