- Title
Endoplasmic reticulum stress mediating downregulated StAR and 3-beta-HSD and low plasma testosterone caused by hypoxia is attenuated by CPU86017-RS and nifedipine.
- Abstract
The article reports that hypoxia exposure initiates low serum testosterone levels which can be attributed to downregulate androgen biosynthesizing genes including StAR (steroidogenic acute regulatory protein) and 3-beta-HSD (3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase) in the testis. It states that the research was conducted on rats and were divided into control, hypoxia and hypoxia treated. It concludes that both genes contributed to low testosterone in hypoxic rats.
