- Title
Clues to γ-secretase, huntingtin and Hirano body normal function using the model organism Dictyostelium discoideum.
- Abstract
The article presents a study investigating the normal function of neurodegenerative disease genes huntingtin (HTT), presenilin γ-secretase and Hirano bodies using the model organism Dictyostelium discoideum, a species of soil-living amoeba. As mentioned, Dictyostelium cells deficient for HTT have shown highly defective chemotactic behavior coupled with cytoskeletal/membrane deficits under conditions of low ionic conditions.
