- Title
Alleviation of Choking Under Pressure in Elite Golf: An Action Research Study.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study, which examines the impact of an evidence-based intervention on choking in golf. Choking in sports refers to an acute performance breakdown. It was found that choking may be alleviated with the use of process goals, cognitive restructuring, imagery, simulated training and a pre/postshot routine. With the help of an action research framework, the effect of the intervention was assessed over a ten month period via qualitative methods. The experiences of elite golfers who either choked or excelled under pressure, were explored by the study authors.
