- Title
Depression in Primary Care: Encouragement and Caution for the Business Case.
- Abstract
The author reflects on the utilization of primary care in handling cases of mental depression. He believes that depression is one of the most common and disabling circumstances and despite of the availability of effective drugs and psychotherapy, there is little evidence on the decrease of such cases. He cites that physicians should understand that writing a prescription for an antidepressant drug and handing it to a patient who seems to be sad and needy is not a treatment for major depression.
