- Title
Effect of statin drugs and aspirin on open-angle glaucoma progression.
- Abstract
This editorial comments on a study in this issue on the use of statin drugs to slow the progression of glaucomatous optic nerve atrophy. The study showed that patients who used statins for almost two years showed a protective effect against glaucoma compared to the control group. What the study failed to demonstrate is if arterial hypertension and high cholesterol levels are risk factors for glaucoma or if they might be protective factors.
