Abstract
The article provides an overview of modernist definitions of kitsch as frequently distinguish kitsch as the antithesis of art but acknowledge a generalogical association between kitsch and art. The idea that kitsch becomes like art which two cannot be differentiated recalls the judgment of literary critic Francis Jeffrey regarding the refined poetries and divergent beauties of vulgar.
