Title

Is it necessary to wear sunscreen indoors?

Authors

Diffey, Brian L.

Abstract

The board-certified dermatologist says it is "crucial" to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen while indoors all year long.'[1] And she is not alone, as Ava Shamban, a dermatologist in Los Angeles, maintains that because most people's activities involve periods indoors I and i outdoors, sunscreen should be applied daily. Given the very low UVA exposure levels from all-day indoor exposure, do we really need to apply sunscreen indoors, especially as there is concern about the ability of some sunscreen ingredients to be systemically absorbed? It is not uncommon to find dermatologists and others who recommend applying sunscreen indoors no matter what the season or weather outside, as the following two quotes illustrate.
