- Abstract
This article discusses the research gap in understanding the effects and risks of testosterone therapy in transmasculine individuals. Historically, research on transgender and gender diverse individuals has been limited, and most studies have focused on safety and mortality outcomes rather than the specific effects desired by patients. The article highlights the need for more research on testosterone doses, serum concentrations, and formulations to achieve desired outcomes such as voice deepening, body hair growth, and fat redistribution. It also emphasizes the importance of considering individual goals and preferences in hormone prescribing and the need for longitudinal studies to understand the long-term implications of testosterone therapy.
