Abstract

A 67-year-old woman presented to dermatology with a 1-year history of gradual and progressive blue-grey skin discolouration most notable on her face, chest and hands (Figure 1). While silver is marketed as a "cure all" for major diseases, patients are often keen to explore alternative therapies in light of rising antibiotic resistance, and argyria may present more frequently. Learning points Argyria is a rare, usually benign, condition characterized by blue-grey discolouration of skin because of permanent deposition of silver -particles.
