- Abstract
The article focuses on ideological critiques and how lived experience contributes to the legitimacy of ideological claims. A study of how rhetoric plays a large role in the criticism of marginalized groups such as those living in poverty, those on welfare, and minorities, is provided. The notion of "reality-referencing" is detailed, including how direct experiences contribute to authority on subjects and how people are better able to articulate their position when faced with rhetorical criticism.
