- Abstract
A comprehensive rehabilitation plan for musculoskeletal sports injuries is composed of the acute, recovery, and functional (return to training and competition) phases. Exercise, in its various forms, is an integral part of all three phases. Aware clinicians can tailor exercise and other interventions, such as medications, physical modalities, psychological support, and orthoses, to promote the return of preinjury function for active patients.
