- Title
Learning and memory: RICTOR in acti(o)n.
- Authors
Welberg, Leonie
- Abstract
The article presents information on a study conducted on the role of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2 (mTORC2) in improving long-term memory. mTORC2 is a multiprotein complex that includes Rictor, a protein involved in actin cytoskeleton regulation; and actin polymerization is needed for memory consolidation. The researchers showed that increasing mTORC2 activity resulted in actin polymerization and facilitated long-term potentiation (L-LTP) in hippocampal slices.
