Atherosclerosis: keep your macrophages in shape.
Authors
Xueqing Liu; Ntambi, James M.
Abstract
The article discusses how cellular stress in macrophages cause lipid accumulation leading to atherosclerosis. It states that Erbay et al identify a lipid-signaling pathway which explains how macrophages consume toxic lipids causing intracellular stress which leads to macrophage malfunction. It notes that the study describes a molecular arrangement stemming from aP2, a lipid binding protein which leads to atherosclerosis.
