Title

Impact of testosterone, estradiol and age on stress urinary incontinence.

Authors

Siddle, Nicholas; Versi, Eboo

Abstract

We suggest that this might equally apply to striated urethral muscle loss and that androgen therapy should be investigated in the treatment of SUI. Dear Editors, Van Geelen and Sand [[1]] have published an elegant and comprehensive review of urethral anatomy, function and the role of sex hormones. Study of sarcopenia in general suggests a major contribution of hormone lack and whereas estrogens prevent muscle apoptosis, androgens stimulate muscle growth and fiber hypertrophy [[5]].
