- Title
Ankle Brachial Index Combined With Framingham Risk Score to Predict Cardiovascular Events and Mortality.
- Abstract
The article presents a study seeking to determine if a low ankle brachial index (ABI) is an indicator of the risk of cardiovascular events and mortality independent of the Framingham risk score (FRS). Researchers also assessed ABI as risk prediction model. The selection process involving a meta-analysis of relevant studies where ABI was measured at baseline and individual patient follow up was conducted to detect cardiovascular mortality is explained. Research results suggest that the measurement of ABI may improve the accuracy of cardiovascular risk prediction beyond FRS.
