- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the link between the adult primary care physician workforce and individual patient outcomes. The study revealed that a higher level of primary care physician workforce, particularly with a full-time equivalent (FTE) measure that may more accurately mirror ambulatory primary care, was related to favorable patient outcomes in general. The annual individual-level outcomes, such as mortality, ambulatory care sensitive condition hospitalizations, and Medicare program spending, adjusted for individual patient characteristics and geographic area variables.
