Abstract

This article emphasizes the importance of supporting basic science in order to foster applied research. It highlights that while there is a current focus on translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions, it is crucial to maintain a commitment to basic research as it provides the foundation for new knowledge and practical applications. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is dedicated to funding basic science studies and supporting a diverse workforce of well-trained scientists. The article also references three scientific articles related to the study of the structure and methods of combating the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which provide valuable information for researchers in this field.
