Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive assessment of noble metal cements in dental medicine, aiming to inform dental professionals and researchers about their characteristics, applications, advantages, and disadvantages. The authors synthesized current knowledge on noble metal cements, discussing their biocompatibility, durability, malleability, and versatility, as well as considerations related to cost, esthetics, and environmental impact. The article also explores the evolution of gold-based dental alloys and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of noble metal cements, such as gold and platinum alloys. Overall, gold remains a valuable option in dental practice, offering timeless aesthetics, exceptional durability, and biocompatibility.
