In connection with the preparation of a book on restoration of reverse paintings on glass [Kirchnerová et al., 2023], the authors of the article had the opportunity to carry out a detailed survey of the torso of a technologically interesting work, made using the amelierung technique combined with other techniques. The torso of the painting on glass was specially acquired for this research purpose at an auction abroad. According to the photographs, it was clear that the work had undergone a rather harsh improper storage, unprofessional handling and, subsequently, amateur (antiquarian) intervention, including improper framing. The subject of the painting was rather alleged than obvious. It was only after a more detailed survey that it became clear that it is a quite exceptional work from the 17th century, made using a combination of techniques based on the copper engraving by Aegidius Sadeler II from 1590.
