- Abstract
Cultural heritage objects made from cellulose or lignocellulosic paper are among the most fragile and the most difficult to maintain. When cleaning these materials, it is essential to choose an appropriate procedure in order to preserve or restore the physical and functional integrity of the object. The study deals with the effect of low-temperature plasma generated in air at atmospheric pressure on lignocellulosic paper in order to determine the effect of the plasma discharge on the surface of the paper. It examines the change in pH, morphology and the effect of the discharge on the chemical composition in order to verify whether plasma treatment could be used in cleaning of paper.
