Mixed research is presented that aims to evaluate the incidence of gamification in the development of competencies of the prioritized curriculum in the teaching of Language and Literature in eighth grade, with the purpose of strengthening learning and achieving educational objectives. The study consisted of an impact evaluation with 154 students of the upper basic level of the Salesian Sánchez y Cifuentes Educational Unit in the city of Ibarra. These were divided as follows: a group of 77 students instructed with gamification (treatment) and another of 77 students without gamification (control). In the process, techniques such as observation, an academic performance test, and methodological and socio-emotional satisfaction surveys were used. The data reveal that the application of gamification in the curriculum for the teaching of Language and Literature is positive for learning. Its methodological importance lies in the improvement of academic performance and in the personal and group satisfaction of students in the classroom
