The Correlation of Sleep Quality Factors in Overweight Adolescents in a Developing Country.

Abstract

Introduction: Good sleep quality is a significant health indicator that needed by people, especially overweight adolescence. The case of overweight adolescents in developing countries is quite significant where earlier studies suggested that overweight adolescents who have poor sleep quality will increase the risk of obesity. So an understanding of the correlation between the sleep quality factors in overweight adolescents is needed. Objective: This study aimed to find out the factors associated with sleep quality in overweight adolescent in a developing country. Method: The research used descriptive corelative design. Fifty overweight adolescences respondents were involved using total sampling technique. The data were collected with questionnaires and analyzed using Spearman's Rho test (αstress =0.020, pdiet = 0.000)However, physical exercise and fatigue, environment, illness, drug and subtance and habits. before sleep (p>0.05) are not explainable because the respondents didn't have the habits and conditions that may be correlated with their sleep quality. Conclusion: This study suggested the factors of sleep quality in overweight adolescents related to stress and diet. The other related factors that examined did not show any association.
